Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit will be the third member of the judiciary in the space of a week tasked to hear the compilation of evidence against the men charged with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
UPDATED – Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit appointed by the Chief Justice – A third attempt at getting the compilation of evidence going in the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder case will be made tomorrow morning, with the case having been assigned to Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit. The law provides that a magistrate has to decide within 30 days of a suspect’s arrest whether there is enough evidence for the suspect to stand trial. 17 days remain.
Once again, the pre-trial proceedings for three men charged with the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia got off to a false start on Monday morning. This time because the new magistrate assigned to the case abstained herself from it.

This morning Edward Zammit Lewis called Muscat’s Labour Party the Real Madrid of Politics. He said that they’re used to winning big and thus felt compelled to compare his party with the footballing giants. Edward Zammit Lewis also asked Joseph Muscat to rethink his position of resigning as party leader and Prime Minister prior to the next General Election.
Sometimes I wonder whether I live in the same island. In a country where there are things that are going well, very well if I may ask and many others which aren’t, sometimes we choose to dwindle on a non-story just because it’s the popular story, the one that might sell.
This is not doing justice to the truth, it’s not being painted in a fair and true reflection of what really goes on.
